چکیده

COLEBROOK (1946) has shown that the provision of clean air, especially in operating theatres and dressing rooms, is an essential condition for the prevention of wound infection. To achieve this it is necessary to have an adequate and controlled ventilation rate and the air introduced should be free from bacteria. Such conditions are being provided in modern operating theatres but in most hospitals the usual method of ventilation is by windows and is often referred to as "natural ventilation. " Most of the field studies on the bacterial content of hospital air have been done in such institutions and the present investigation was undertaken with the object of finding out the level of bacteria carrying particles in the theatres and wards of a hospital which has a controlled system of ventilation, namely the Plenum system. At the same time, because of the availability of a mobile unit designed for the sterilisation of air by recirculation over U.V. light, an attempt was made to assess the value of U.V. light used in this way as a means of reducing the bacterial content of the air in the hospital wards. The effect of U.V. light in one operating theatre was also investigated. METHODS USED.

Experimental study and application of computational fluid dynamics on the prediction of air velocity and temperature in a ventilated chamber

The shape of the air flow in the interior is heavily influenced by the air distribution system and the way air enters and exits. By numerically simulating flow by computational fluid dynamics, one can determine the flow pattern and temperature distribution and, with the help of the results, provide an optimal design of the air conditioning system. In this study, a chamber was first constructed ...

Exergy Analysis of an Air Dehumidification System Equipped with Mixing Box and Heat Exchanger Heat Recovery Units

Exergy analysis emboldens in cases that all the inefficiencies and bottlenecks to improve energy systems are to be addressed. In this study, a novel vapor compression air dehumidifier integrated with an auxiliary heat exchanger in series arrangement with the main condenser in order to mitigate the reheat coil, and an extra mixing box to recover the ventilated air heat has been introduced. A com...

SMART ROOM CARBON MONOXIDE MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEM

Carbon Monoxide (CO) is the most abundant air pollutant gas and accumulates rapidly to dangerous concentrations even in areas that seem to be well ventilated. Carbon monoxide detectors/alarm systems exist but people who are old, hearing impaired, partially sighted or heavy sleepers may not get the warning or find it difficult to wake up and get out in the event of dangerous concentration of CO ...

Conservative Management in a Ventilated Preterm Neonate with Pneumopericardium, Pleural Effusion, and Pulmonary Collapse: A Case Report

Background: Neonatal pneumopericardium (PPC) is a rare clinical condition usually associated with other air leak syndromes. It increases morbidity and mortality due to cardiac tamponade. Case report: A preterm male neonate weighing 1260 g was born with the gestational age of 28 weeks. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was routinely performed without any medical therapy. The newborn was transferred ...

Techno-Economic Assessment of Heat Recovery in Series Condensers Arrangement: Hot and Humid Regions

A direct expansion (DX) HVAC system is an efficient way to supply fresh and dehumidified air to a built environment. To improve the efficiency of a conventional DX system in hot and humid regions, fresh air dehumidification and conditioning systems with energy recovery measures are the key equipment to reach such a goal. To achieve this goal an integrated system is proposed. The integrated syst...
